Information Resources Management is a 2-year English-taught master's program. It has two research directions: Information Management and Data Analytics(IM&DA), Information Management and Digital Humanities(IM&DH). After completing all course work and succeeding in thesis defense, students will receive a Master’s Degree in Management.
The School of Information Management of Nanjing University, which supports this program, was established in 1927. It is the oldest school of information management in China and is also one of the best in China as it is the third iSchool in Asia and was ranked 26th in the 2019 QS World University rankings. The School consists of 69 faculty and staff members, including well-known scholars and leading talents. At present, the school has 4 majors at the bachelor’s level, 6 at the master’s level and a doctoral program, constituting a comprehensive, mature and internationalized education system.
The program offers training in the theoretical and practical study of the intersections between social science and information science. As a cross-disciplinary program, it offers rigorous hands-on training in information management research and applications with computerized techniques that are particularly useful for this field of inquiry, as they allow for processing large amounts of data across the barriers of time and space.
1. Admission:
(1) Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
(2) Applicants should have obtained a bachelor’s degree in social science or a related field, and be interested in interdisciplinary studies of social sciences and information technology. There is no special requirement on the applicant’s computer skills.
(3) Applicants whose native language is not English must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores (minimal requirement: TOEFL 85; IELTS6.0).
(4) Applicants should be willing to learn Chinese and reach Level 3 of Chinese Language Proficiency Scales For Speakers of Other Language(Elementary Chinese)before graduation.

3. Study Duration: The program takes 2 years of full-time study, including classroom teaching, practicum, and thesis writing.
Tuition: RMB 35,000 (about $5,000) per academic year

2.Faculty Profile
Jianjun Sun, Dean of School of Information Management at Nanjing University
Prof. Sun is the Changjiang Distinguished Scholar and the doctoral supervisor at Nanjing University. He has led and coordinated several major scientific projects funded by National Social Science Fund, National Science Foundation of China, and many corporations.
He published extensively on and serves as reviewers for a number of information journals such as Information Science, Library and Information Service, Journal of the China Society for Scientific, Technical Information, etc. He teaches predominantly in the areas of Internet information resources management, Informetrics and Webmetrics, Game theory, etc.
Qinghua Zhu, Associate Dean of School of Information Management at Nanjing University
Prof. Zhu serves as a Doctoral Supervisor at Nanjing University. He was appointed as Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Distinguished Scholar Program by Chinese Ministry of Education in 2017. He has led and coordinated several major scientific projects funded by National Social Science Fund, National Science Foundation of China, and many corporations.
He serves on the editorial boards for a number of academic journals including Aslib Journal of Information Management. He teaches predominantly in the areas of Theory and methodology for information science, Research methods in library and information science, etc.
Xinning Su, Chairman of Nanjing University of Information Technology Development Institute
Prof. Su serves as a Doctoral Supervisor at Nanjing University. He was appointed as Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Distinguished Scholars Program by Chinese Ministry of Education in 2011. He serves as the vice president of the sixth Jiangsu Province Information Society. He has led and coordinated several major scientific projects funded by National Social Science Fund, National Science Foundation of China, and many corporations.
Ying YE (Fred Y. Ye), Professor, Department of Information Management Science
Prof. Ye serves as a Doctoral Supervisor at Nanjing University. He was appointed as Fellow, European Academy of Sciences and Arts, since 2014, and Fulbright research scholar, USA during 2000-2001. He serves as a life-long member of ISSI (International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics), also as the member of the Editorial Committees for Journal of Data and Information Science, Journal of the China Society for Scientific and Technical Information etc.
